A Swipe-Driven Climate Connection App
Down to Earth is a climate action app designed to connect people with local activities and foster deep, long-lasting friendships. Inspired by the swipe-style interface of dating apps, Down to Earth takes a bold approach to rethinking climate advocacy by making it social, accessible, and fun.
DESIGN PROCESS
As a project, Down to Earth was conceptualized and developed through iterative collaboration among team members. Each stage—from research to prototype—was a hands-on opportunity to apply design principles in a real-world context.
-
We conducted research, surveys, and interviews within our academic and local communities to uncover pain points and desires surrounding climate action. These findings shaped our user personas and app features.
-
Using tools like Figma, we created low- and high-fidelity prototypes, iterating based on peer feedback and instructor guidance. This process emphasized usability and accessibility.
-
The branding focused on creating a sense of connection balanced with hope, utilizing vibrant greens and community imagery to symbolize renewal and collective action.
