RESPONSIBILITY
My Responsibility theme forces me to take psychological ownership for anything I commit to, and whether large or small, I feel emotionally bound to follow it through to completion. My conscientiousness, this near obsession for doing things right, and my impeccable ethics, combine to create my reputation: utterly dependable. When assigning new responsibilities, people will typically look to me first because they know it will get done. When people come to me for help I must be selective.
ADAPTABILITY
I live in the moment. I don’t see the future as a fixed destination. Instead, I see it as a place that I create out of the choices that I make right now. And so I discover my future one choice at a time. This doesn’t mean that I don’t have plans. I do. But this theme of Adaptability does enable me to respond willingly to the demands of the moment even if they pull me away from my plans. I am, at heart, a very flexible person who can stay productive when the demands of work are pulling me in many different directions at once.
CONNECTEDNESS
Things happen for a reason. I am sure of it. I am sure of it because in my soul I know that we are all connected. Yes, we are individuals, responsible for our own judgments and in possession of our own free will, but nonetheless we are part of something larger. I gain confidence from knowing that we are not isolated from one another or from the earth and the life on it. This feeling of Connectedness implies certain responsibilities. If we are all part of a larger picture, then we must not harm others because we will be harming ourselves. We must not exploit because we will be exploiting ourselves. My awareness of these responsibilities creates my value system. I am considerate, caring, and accepting. Certain of the unity of humankind, I am a bridge builder for people of different cultures.
BELIEF
I have certain core values that are enduring. The Belief theme causes me to be family-oriented, altruistic, even spiritual, and to value responsibility and high ethics—both in myself and others. These core values affect my behavior in many ways. They give my life meaning and satisfaction; in my view, success is much more than money and prestige. They provide me with direction, guiding me through the temptations and distractions of life toward a consistent set of priorities. This consistency is the foundation for all my relationships. My friends call me dependable. “I know where you stand,” they say. My Belief makes me easy to trust. It also demands that I find work that meshes with my values. My work must be meaningful; it must matter to me.
RESTORATIVE
I love to solve problems. I enjoy the challenge of analyzing the symptoms, identifying what is wrong, and finding the solution. I embrace all types of difficulties from practical problems to conceptual ones to personal ones as another chance to learn and grow. What is certain is that I enjoy bringing things back to life. It is a wonderful feeling to identify the undermining factor(s), eradicate them, and restore something to its true glory. I hope to contribute to the team or function of rekindling vitality and introducing human flourishing.
